Our Story
Chartered in 1970, Ojai Federation of Teachers has for decades maintained a collaborative stance toward improving the conditions for education in Ojai's public schools. As the body by which the faculty speaks with one voice, OFT has advocated for countless improvements, from class sizes, to to classroom safety, to appropriate technology to keep up with the changing times. Our aim is for Ojai Unified to provide the schools of choice for families within the valley. In addition, more than 90 percent of faculty in our district rely upon OFT to protect working conditions and to strive for improving compensation.

Your OFT negotiating teams have worked countless volunteer hours dealing with District negotiators in dealing with Covid-19 memoranda of understanding for all faculty, protecting teachers while planning adaptations for schools facing the pandemic.
Currently, OUSD salaries are at the bottom among Ventura County's public schools, largely due to enrollment shrinkage. OFT is working with the District to try to help teachers who choose Ojai maintain a decent standard of living amid funding challenges. Collective bargaining means that teachers can select their representatives to work with the District for solutions. Our health and other benefits are among the best around! |
